The yellow crookneck squash has burst into bloom over the past week.

It won’t be long now until we can sample some of the fruits (and veggies) of our labor.

Mmmm. Looks good. Squash tastes so much better just-picked, I think.

    Definitely!

Your plants look amazingly healthy. Please share your fertilizer tips.

I’m just using the compost that we make from leaf waste and kitchen scraps to enrich the soil. Haven’t used any other fertilizer so far.

I have been getting tons of blooms, but as of yet, no squash. The plants are beautiful and healthy and get plenty of water. should i be worried? I haven’t seen any evidence of bugs or disease either. The blooms, bloom, and then fall off.

Maybe you’ve only seen male blooms so far? Or maybe you haven’t had any pollinators visiting your plants? I’m really no expert on squash–this summer’s veggie garden is my first real attempt since childhood. Hope you see some squash soon.
